Built on Craftsmanship Since 1976
Schmidt Exteriors was founded by Michael Schmidt in 1976, but his experience in the building industry began much earlier. Raised in a family of carpenters, Mike grew up around the trade and learned firsthand the importance of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and doing the job right.
As the home improvement industry evolved, Mike saw an opportunity to provide homeowners with quality exterior products installed with the same care and precision expected from skilled carpentry.
That commitment became the foundation of Schmidt Exteriors.
“I needed to specialize in unique product offering that address the needs of property-owners” says Schmidt. “I employed my carpenters’ skills and sales knowledge to offer wood windows in a full frame replacement format, which resulted in a style and quality that far exceeded the vinyl window pocket style installation.”

Today, Schmidt Exteriors is based in Aurora, Illinois, specializing in replacement windows, exterior doors, and siding for homeowners throughout Naperville, Aurora, and surrounding Chicagoland communities.
We work with respected manufacturers including Pella, Marvin, Andersen, Polaris, James Hardie, LP SmartSide, Mastic, Therma-Tru, and Albany Door, allowing us to offer homeowners a wide range of styles, materials, performance options, and price points.

Our In-House Window Paint & Stain Shop
One feature that sets Schmidt Exteriors apart is our in-house window paint and stain shop.
Many of the windows we install can be professionally painted or stained in our shop before they arrive at your home. This gives us greater control over the finishing process while reducing the amount of finishing work that needs to take place inside your home.
For exterior doors, we proudly work with Albany Door, which manufactures and professionally finishes the doors before installation.
From selecting the right products to the finishing details, our goal is to make the entire process as convenient and seamless as possible for the homeowner.
